So I stumbled across this article on the Honda Civic natural gas car.  While I understand that its emmisions are very clean, one has to ask whether this is a real long term solution to our problems.  Also questionable is whether we should be using the natural gas that we have (keep in mind its not an unlimited resource) at the users end.  It could be used to generate electricity very cleanly, for all uses, including running battery operated cars.

Though I don’t think this is a real solution, its certainly an interesting idea.  They will be dealing with similar safety issues to the hydrogen powered car as well.  Anything under pressure can be fairly dangerous and explosive.  Also, there is basically no infrastructure for this.  An advantage for the cell powered cars is that in most cases (i.e. driving to and fro work every day) they can simply be charged at home at night.
