Richard Cooey, double murderer of University of Akron students in 1986, has been executed by the state of Ohio after appeals by his attorneys had been turned down.  These stated that the 1.7m, 121kg Cooey was too large for execution by lethal injection, and that it would be an inhumane punishment.  They argued that the prison staff may find difficulty in locating a vein, prolonging the process as happened in the Christopher Newton execution in May 2007.
