Doctor Cures HIV Patient

A german doctor has managed to use HIV-immune bone marrow to cure an HIV positive man; who has now been clean of the virus for two years. The post on Slashdot goes something like the following –

“HIV is the virus that causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Until now, HIV has no cure and has led to the deaths of over 25 million people. However, a possible cure has appeared. Dr. Gero Hutter, a brilliant physician in Germany, replaced the bone marrow of an HIV patient with the bone marrow of a donor who has natural immunity to HIV. The new bone marrow in the patient then produced immune-system cells that are immune to HIV. Being unable to hijack any immune cell, the HIV has simply disappeared. The patient has been free of HIV for about 2 years. Some physicians at UCLA have developed a similar therapy and plan to commercialize it.”

The comment thread at Slashdot is pretty negative about it being a treatment, but this certainly is a big step towards a cure.

when are we going the have the cure for HIV/AIDS ? we are living on an age with very high technology but still we have not found a cure for this disease.

HIV AIDS is really a very scary disease. until now, there is no know cure or vaccine for it. the only we can prevent it is through safe sex.

I just started this plan. i am hoping it will at least help me to eat healthy and exercise more. I have heard alot of different opinions, but what dosent work for one person might work for another.
So wish me luck to a new view on food:)

HIV / AIDS is one hell of a scary disease. we still do not have a cure nor a vaccine for it, so always practice safe sex.

HIV/AIDS is still rampant today and there is no cure for it. we need to practive safe sex all the time because an ounce of prevention is still better than a pound of cure.
