I’ve been playing a bit of Mirror’s Edge lately after stealing it from fx, and something has hit me smack in the middle of my stomach – nothing. It doesn’t make me ill

You might be wondering why this is such and important thing that I’m making a blog post about it. Well, I get motion sickness pretty easily. On holiday last week I had to pop pills on the tour bus, on the shuttle bus and on the boat to keep me from throwing up.

I played for about 2hrs straight yesterday and the only reason my mouth was over producing saliva was because of the delicious chocolate I was scoffing at the time.

But now, what do I think of the game? Epic. Running around like a mad (wo)man jumping across buildings and occasionally falling is an amazing take on a game that could have been your regular FPS with the same basic story line.

It does get frustrating sometimes when you can’t quite see how you are meant to get across a gap or up to a vent, but it’s a good type of frustration. I often play games where I get to a point and spend more time dying trying to get through a section than I do actually playing, it inevitably ends up back on my shelf never to be loaded again.

This game though, the frustration drives me on. I know that because I can’t get into a vent that’s half way up a wall just by jumping at it, I probably have to run up a wall doing a 180 mid-air pushing myself to a ledge, running across the adjacent wall and jump off it mid-stride.

This is definitely one of my favourites for 2008.
