The first US presidential debate has been held, and had some tens of millions of television viewers. Judging by polls taken by CBS and the CNN research group, the public seems to think Obama did better, although by a small margin. A large percentage of voters thought it was a draw.
It seems as though each candidate drew to his strengths, as is expected. The Republican party commented on McCain’s superior knowledge on national security issues, and the Democrats made a point of showing that Obama is ready to lead. This comes after McCain saying that Obama is not ready to lead the US.
