I’ve always liked the Sony Vaios, very good build quality and great specs on most of them, as long as you are willing to spend a decent amount of money.  However, they had to recall over 300 000 batteries in 2006, and now they are having problems again.  This time the problems lie with the notebooks themselves, apparently the wiring between the body of the notebook and the display is faulty, resulting in overheating.  Sony is recalling 440 000 of the units.
